Shinhwa Corp. announced on 15th of October that it decided UWB as its main subject to proceed in R&D center
and began to develop the technology of UWB, which is considered to be the next generation¡¯s core technology
in the field of mobile communication. UWB is known as surpassing current technology such as Bluetooth,
or wireless LAN in data transmission speed & power. It has been used only for military purpose,
but if it is applied to the commercial area, the wireless communication technology is expected to develop rapidly.
UWB is a technology practicing in the high frequency band such as GHz.
A lot of leading companies like Intel have paid attention to the technology, since FCC permitted the civilian companies
to use it for commercial purpose. Shinhwa revealed that it picked up Kim Myung-Soo as a chief of LAB,
who had ran ¡°Nexson Technology Corporation¡±, Bluetooth R&D company and has recruited high-quality engineers of inside
and outside of the country including Indian, or Russian engineers.
C.P. Hong, the president of Shinhwa Corp. said ¡°We are planning to develop the UWB profile of multi-media, network,
security, automotive as well as UWB standard protocol. We also will actively take part in the several Standard Committees relating
to UWB as a member to handle the difficulties of reciprocating software. And he emphasized also ¡°We will make close
relationship with the chip-set makers, which could be potential buyer of our software and try to make strategic alliances
with leading companies in the relating sectors so that we can get a chance of global marketing.¡± Shinhwa has known to have
a plan to branch out into the USA in order to encourage marketing and R&D in proper time.
